Tropical Secrets

In the Philippines the huge leaves of Medinilla Magnifica (pictured) hang from the trees on squared stems. When they are ready, pink spheres descend and open to reveal 40cm long clusters of candy pink flowers.

The plant needs some height to accommodate the pendulous stems. It likes plenty of light but no full sun and a warm, humid atmosphere.
