  • Name - Clivia miniata's common name is kaffir lily.
  • Description -Clivias makes an impressive display especially when their cluster of bell-shaped flowers appear from the centre of the large, sword-shaped leaves. It usually flowers from late winter to late spring.
  • Origin - South Africa
  • Family - Amaryllidaceae
  • Colours - Orange is the most common colour but there are also apricot, red and yellow varieties.
  • Care Tips - During the resting period from autumn to winter, it needs to be in a cool and bright area and be kept almost dry. Come summer it can go outdoors or indoors in a semi-shaded and warm spot. Water it well in summer and feed every fortnight from spring to mid summer.
  • Trivia - Repot every second or third year as the roots do not like much disturbance. It contains poisonous alkaloids.
