  • Name - Pronounced TIL-land-see-a. Common name: blue-flowered torch
  • Description - Appear in many shapes. This variety bears a spectacular pink bract, that looks like a cuttlefish, growing out of its rosette of fine green leaves. The bract changes colour from green at flowering time. The real flowers, which appear singly from each notch, are bright purple, three-petalled blooms. These do not last long, though the bract stays colourful for several weeks.
  • Origin - Tropical and subtropical America
  • Family - Bromeliad family
  • Care Tips - Water sparingly - tolerant of dry conditions. Needs high humidity, stand the pot on a saucer of moist pebbles. Mist often with soft water. Feed fortnightly. Enjoys bright filtered light. Never allow the temperature to fall below 12°C/55°F.
  • Trivia - Tillandsia are epiphytic, which means they grow on trees, without taking goodness from their host.
