Golden torch
A simple glass flask holds a tied bouquet of summer flowers. Golden spikes of foxtail lily (Eremurus) are encircled by sunshine-yellow yarrow (Achillea) which is in turn sporting a collar of fluffy brown feathers like a bird's nest. The whole bouquet is tied with raffia. This contrasted style is very modern- tall stems against short, flowers grouped together, long thin flowers paired with flat chunky ones. Other tall flowers to try are snapdragons (Antirrhinum), astilbe, bells of Ireland (Moluccella) and solidago.
